God’s plan for us
Dear People of St. Boniface
Today we have a little problem as the reading is from “The Letter of St. Paul to the Ephesians” whereas most of your experts say this is not by me. In style and content it has much in common with “my” Letter to the Colossians, which again experts (though not so many this time) say is not by me!
If I tell you one way or the other I will bring Scripture study to a halt, so shall we say I am happy with the idea that Ephesians was written by one of my loyal and talented followers living in Ephesus, possibly one who gathered together all my letters and tried to present a synthesis of how I think.
Certainly what you hear today contains two of my key messages: God has had an eternal plan for us, which has been wonderfully revealed in my own lifetime, and it is not just for one, chosen people: it is for all!
