Intercessions 13 April 2017

INTERCESSIONS. Holy Thursday. April 13th., 2017.

Priest: Let us pray for the Church and the world through Jesus Christ, who frees us that we may set others free.

Reader: For the unity of Christians, that the Eucharist, which has so often been the cause of divisions, may bring about a unity in service, let us pray to the Lord [pause]:
Lord, have mercy: Lord, have mercy.

For those whose lives are blighted by war, terrorism and violence, for the people of Syria, Iraq, Libya, northern Nigeria and Southern Sudan, that all people of goodwill may renew their commitment to peace, let us pray to the Lord [pause]:
Lord, have mercy: Lord, have mercy.

For all who suffer from malnutrition and from the lack of a fresh water supply, for whom the bread, wine and water of the Last Supper is not an assured reality, that they may be helped to a better life, let us pray to the Lord [pause]:
Lord, have mercy: Lord, have mercy.

For exiles, refugees and migrants, for all who are away from home, that as Christ celebrated his last Passover not with his family but with his chosen disciples, all wanderers may know that Christ is with them, let us pray to the Lord [pause]:
Lord, have mercy: Lord, have mercy.

May Mary, who prayed faithfully in an unseen place during her Son’s last night on earth, pray for us now: Hail, Mary …

Let us now pray in silence for our own intentions [silence]:

Priest: Heavenly Father, hear our prayers, and through your Holy Spirit breathe into us the values of the Kingdom, where the Lord is servant, the first is last, the foolish is wise and the commandment is love; we ask this through Christ our Lord, Amen.
