Intercessions August 13, 2017

INTERCESSIONS. NINETEENTH SUNDAY in ORDINARY TIME [A]. August 13th., 2017.

Priest: Let us pray for the Church and the world through Jesus Christ, who shelters us when we are afraid but encourages us to be bold.

Reader: For all Christians, that we may never fear that God has abandoned us in a world with many problems, but may call out with confidence: “Lord, save us!”, let us pray to the Lord [pause]:
Lord, have mercy: Lord, have mercy.

For those whose work is dangerous, that they may be properly rewarded for the risks which they have to take, let us pray to the Lord [pause]:
Lord, have mercy: Lord, have mercy.

For seafarers, especially those who come to this port, that many may be willing to respond to their pastoral needs, let us pray to the Lord [pause]:
Lord, have mercy: Lord, have mercy.

For children on holiday, that they may be safe, but may not be so over-protected that their spirit of adventure is destroyed, let us pray to the Lord [pause]:
Lord, have mercy: Lord, have mercy.

May Our Lady pray for us all, and especially for young people at this time of the receiving of exam. results, particularly for those who are anxious:

SUB TUUM PRAESIDIUM
To thee do we fly for protection, O holy Mother of God;
Despise not our petitions in our necessities,
but deliver us always from all dangers,
O glorious and blessed Virgin Mary, Amen.

Let us pray in silence for our own intentions [silence]:

Priest: Heavenly Father, may your Holy Spirit support us as we
pray, that we may be willing to go where you lead, but may also know that you will not abandon us if we are in trouble; this we ask in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
