Intercessions January 14, 2018

INTERCESSIONS. 2nd. SUNDAY in ORDINARY TIME [B]. January 14th., 2018.

Priest: Let us pray for the Church and the world through Jesus Christ, who, as he passes by us in our daily encounters in the world, invites us to stay with him through the people we meet.

Reader: For the Church, that as Christians we may not hide our relationship with Christ but, like Andrew, may say to others: “We have found the Messiah”, let us pray to the Lord [pause]:
Lord, in your mercy: Hear our prayer.

For peace in the world, that peace may come to those who have for so long yearned for it, so that in finding peace they may find the Messiah, who is the Prince of Peace, let us pray to the Lord [pause]:
Lord, in your mercy: Hear our prayer.

For victims of addictions of any kind, that they may be helped to see that, as saint Paul says, the body is for the Lord and the Lord for the body, let us pray to the Lord [pause]:
Lord, in your mercy: Hear our prayer.

For those beginning a new job, that they may be inspired by Christ’s disciples, who went with Jesus to follow a New Way, let us pray to the Lord [pause]:
Lord, in your mercy: Hear our prayer.

Let us seek the prayers of Mary, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, who answered God’s call through the archangel Gabriel:

TO OUR LADY
OF PERPETUAL HELP
Mother of Perpetual Help, blessed and favoured by God,
you became not only the Mother of the Redeemer, but Mother of the redeemed as well.
We come to you today as your loving children. Watch over us and take care of us.
As you held the child Jesus in your loving arms, so take us in your arms.
Be a mother ready at every moment to help us.
Intercede for us, dear Mother, to obtain pardon for our sins, love for your Son, perseverance to the end,
and the grace always to call upon you, Amen.

Let us now pray in silence for our own intentions [silence]:

Priest: Father, may your Holy Spirit help us as we pray, that we may not presume on the answer which you will give, but may in humility say: “Speak, Lord, your servant is listening”; we ask this through your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns for ever and ever, Amen.
