Intercessions April 15, 2018

INTERCESSIONS. THIRD SUNDAY of EASTERTIDE [B]. April 15th., 2018

Priest: Let us pray for the Church and the world in Jesus Christ, who by his resurrection brings to the world the fullness of the reality of life.

Reader: For the Church, that we may not hide the Gospel of Christ, but may acknowledge that we do indeed recognise Jesus at the breaking of bread, let us pray to the Lord [pause]:
Lord, in your mercy: Hear our prayer.

For the peace of the world in the face of the continuing crisis in Syria, that despite all the odds the peace which Jesus offers may become a reality, let us pray to the Lord [pause]:
Lord, in your mercy: Hear our prayer.

For those who preserve the records and archives of our churches, that they may enable us to see that the goodness of Christ passes through each succeeding generation, let us pray to the Lord [pause]:
Lord, in your mercy: Hear our prayer.

For those who are held in the grip of superstitions, that they may turn to Christ in whose presence foolish fears dissolve, let us pray to the Lord [pause]:
Lord, in your mercy: Hear our prayer.

May Our Lady pray for us, and for all those who have fallen away from the faith, that they may return:

Queen of Heaven, rejoice, alleluia,
For he whom you were worthy to bear, alleluia.
Has risen, as he said, alleluia;
Pray for us to God, alleluia.
Rejoice and be glad, O Virgin Mary, alleluia,
For the Lord is risen indeed, alleluia.

Let us pray in silence for our own intentions:

Priest: Heavenly Father, may your Holy Spirit guide our prayer, that we may steadfastly trust in your Son, and so, in the words of Cardinal Newman, come “out of shadows and images into the truth”; we ask this through our risen Saviour, Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen.
