Intercessions July 8, 2018

INTERCESSIONS. FOURTEENTH SUNDAY in ORDINARY TIME [B]. July 8th., 2018.

Priest: Let us pray for the Church and for the world, through Jesus Christ, who seeks to lead us through faith beyond our self-imposed boundaries.

Reader: For the Church, that Christians may use the knowledge of the world to support their faith, while honouring faith as a supernatural gift, let us pray to the Lord [pause]:
Lord, hear us: Lord, graciously hear us.

For those who have few opportunities in life, that they may be helped to discover where, under God, they may make their mark, let us pray to the Lord [pause]:
Lord, hear us: Lord, graciously hear us.

For our Government, that all may make a concerted effort to resolve the serious questions which affect our national future, while always displaying the quality of charity, let us pray to the Lord [pause]:
Lord, hear us: Lord, graciously hear us.

For those who through the arts and sciences seek to embellish and explain the world in which we live, that in so doing they may always honour the Creator, let us pray to the Lord [pause]:
Lord, hear us: Lord, graciously hear us.

May Mary pray for us, and especially for those suffering in the migration crisis in the Mediterranean and beyond:

SALVE REGINA
Hail, holy Queen, mother of mercy
Hail our life, our sweetness, and our hope.
To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve; to thee do we send up our sighs,
mourning and weeping in this vale of tears.
Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy towards us,
and after this our exile show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.
Priest: Pray for us, O holy Mother of God
That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Let us now pray in silence for our own intentions [silence]:

Priest: Heavenly Father, may your Holy Spirit guide our prayer, that we may seek to build up your Kingdom through the gifts which we have received, and through esteeming the different gifts of others; this we ask in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
