Intercessions August 5, 2018

INTERCESSIONS. EIGHTEENTH SUNDAY in ORDINARY TIME [B]. August 5th., 2018

Priest: Let us pray for the Church and the world through Jesus Christ, in whom all the goodness of the Father is contained.

Reader: For all Christians, that we may always see Christ as being at our side, in bad times as well as good, let us pray to the Lord [pause]:
Lord, in your mercy: Hear our prayer.

For those whose work leaves them liable to criticism, that they may accept what is said justly, and ride above what is destructive and spiteful, let us pray to the Lord [pause]:
Lord, in your mercy: Hear our prayer.

For the people of Zimbabwe in the wake of their recent elections, that the renewed hopes of the people may not be dashed by a reversion to the old ways, let us pray to the Lord [pause]:
Lord, in your mercy: Hear our prayer.

For those who must work especially hard to enable others to have a holiday, that what they do may not be taken for granted, let us pray to the Lord [pause]:
Lord, in your mercy: Hear our prayer.

May Mary pray for us, and especially for those who have finished their exams and wait for the results:

REJOICE, O VIRGIN MOTHER
Rejoice, O Virgin Mother of God, Mary full of grace, the Lord is with you;
Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb,
for you have borne the Saviour of our souls.

More honourable than the cherubim, and infinitely more glorious than the seraphim,
without corruption you gave birth to God the Word;
truly Mother of God, we magnify you.

Let us now pray in silence for our own intentions [silence]:

Priest: Heavenly Father, may your Holy Spirit help us as we pray, that
we may not have recourse to nostalgia and complain endlessly
about present times, but may always be alert to opportunities,
often in small things, to promote your eternal Kingdom; we
ask this through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, AMEN.
