Intercessions June 9, 2019

INTERCESSIONS. Solemnity of PENTECOST [C]. June 9th., 2019.

Priest: Let us pray for the Church and the world through Jesus Christ, who offers the gift of the Holy Spirit to renew our lives every day.

Reader: For the Church, that Christians may remember that they are not isolated beings, but are held together in the Body of Christ, which is the Church, let us pray to the Lord [pause]:
Lord, have mercy: Lord, have mercy.

For world peace, that, inspired by the commemorations of D-Day, we may seek not only to avoid war, hostility and rivalry, but may be open to the creative peace of the Holy Spirit, let us pray to the Lord [pause]:
Lord, have mercy: Lord, have mercy.

For all students, that the Holy Spirit may guide them at this time of examinations, and that, following the example of the apostles speaking in many tongues, those who teach may encourage a broad view of the world and its cultures, let us pray to the Lord [pause]:
Lord, have mercy: Lord, have mercy.

For those who have lost their memories, that those who are closest to them may be sustained by the Holy Spirit of patience, let us pray to the Lord [pause]:
Lord, have mercy: Lord, have mercy.

May Mary, Mother of the Church, pray for us and especially for our candidates for the sacrament of Confirmation:

Queen of Heaven, rejoice, alleluia,
For he whom you were worthy to bear, alleluia.
Has risen, as he said, alleluia;
Pray for us to God, alleluia.
Rejoice and be glad, O Virgin Mary, alleluia,
For the Lord is risen indeed, alleluia.

Let us now pray in silence for our own intentions [silence]:

Priest: Heavenly Father, may the Holy Spirit help us as we pray, that we may seek to live as Christ has made us: consecrated people, intended for a life of holiness in all we do, think and say; we ask this in the name of your Son, risen and ascended, Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen.
