Intercessions July 7, 2019

INTERCESSIONS. 14th. SUNDAY of ORDINARY TIME [C]. July 7th., 2019

Priest: Let us pray for the Church and the world through Jesus Christ, who leaves us free to choose our path, but still comes behind us.

Reader: For the Church, that as Christians we may remember we are bearers of the Word, entrusted with the task of passing it to others, let us pray to the Lord [pause]:
Lord, in your mercy: Hear our prayer.

For the peace of the Holy Land, that the prophet Isaiah’s vision of a joyful city of Jerusalem may become a living reality, let us pray to the Lord [pause]:
Lord, in your mercy: Hear our prayer.

For those who are caught up in urban violence and feel that they are sheep among wolves, that a solution may be found to these serious social problems, let us pray to the Lord [pause]:
Lord, in your mercy: Hear our prayer.

For who all use our roads, that as the disciples travelled on the highways carrying Christ’s Gospel of Peace, so may we use the roads considerately and patiently, let us pray to the Lord [pause]:
Lord, in your mercy: Hear our prayer.

May Mary pray for us and especially for those caught up in present international issues, in Iran, in North Korea, in Hong Kong and China, in the United States, in Mexico and in the countries of Central America:

REJOICE, O VIRGIN MOTHER
Rejoice, O Virgin Mother of God, Mary full of grace, the Lord is with you;
Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb,
for you have borne the Saviour of our souls.

More honourable than the cherubim, and infinitely more glorious than the seraphim,
without corruption you gave birth to God the Word;
truly Mother of God, we magnify you.

Let us now pray in silence for our own intentions [silence]:

Priest: Father, may your Holy Spirit help us as we pray, that we may be glad that you have given us the gift of prayer, and use it generously and hopefully; we ask this through your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen.
