Intercessions August 11, 2019

INTERCESSIONS. 19th. SUNDAY of ORDINARY TIME [C]. August 11th., 2019

Priest: Let us pray for the Church and the world through Jesus Christ, who can encounter us in many unexpected ways

Reader: For the Church, that as Christians we may not be confined to the past, but may look forward in hope to Christ’s many comings among us, let us pray to the Lord [pause]:
Lord, in your mercy: Hear our prayer.

For those who have lost their faith, that the Holy Spirit may meet them and restore to them this precious gift, let us pray to the Lord [pause]:
Lord, in your mercy: Hear our prayer.

For those who are on holiday, that Christ who blesses our work and our leisure may be with them as they change the pace of their lives, let us pray to the Lord [pause]:
Lord, in your mercy: Hear our prayer.

For all who work at night, that those who toil while others sleep may not be taken for granted, let us pray to the Lord [pause]:
Lord, in your mercy: Hear our prayer.

May Mary pray for us and especially for our political leaders in these times of continuing uncertainty:

REJOICE, O VIRGIN MOTHER
Rejoice, O Virgin Mother of God, Mary full of grace, the Lord is with you;
Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb,
for you have borne the Saviour of our souls.

More honourable than the cherubim, and infinitely more glorious than the seraphim,
without corruption you gave birth to God the Word;
truly Mother of God, we magnify you.

Let us now pray in silence for our own intentions [silence]:

Priest: Father, may your Holy Spirit help us as we pray, that we may not be complacent and rely on repeating whatever is customary, but may be open to what is new and what is surprising, in our daily lives of faith; we ask this through your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen.
