Intercessions August 25, 2019

INTERCESSIONS. 21st. SUNDAY in ORDINARY TIME [C]. August 25th., 2019

Priest: Let us pray for the Church and the world, through Jesus Christ, who seeks to drive away a spirit of complacency.

Reader: For the Church, that as Christians we may be loyal: to the Gospel, to our faith tradition, to our families, friends and communities, let us pray to the Lord [pause]:
Lord, in your mercy: Hear our prayer.

For our political leaders, that they may accept that the present times are very demanding, and not blithely assume that all will be well, let us pray to the Lord [pause]:
Lord, in your mercy: Hear our prayer.

For those who feel that God has abandoned them, that they may know that Christ, who prayed on the Cross not to be abandoned, is always with them, let us pray to the Lord [pause]:
Lord, in your mercy: Hear our prayer.

For those who have received their GCSE results, that they may pass on to another profitable stage of their education, or may still hope to succeed, let us pray to the Lord [pause]:
Lord, in your mercy: Hear our prayer.

May Mary, crowned Queen of Heaven, pray for us:

MEMORARE
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary,
that never was it known
that anyone ever fled to thy protection,
implored thy help,
or sought thine intercession,
and was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence,
I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother;
to thee do I come, before thee I stand,
a sorrowful sinner .
O Mother of the Word Incarnate,
despise not my petitions,
but in thy mercy hear and answer my prayer. Amen.

Let us pray in silence for our own intentions:

Priest: Father in Heaven, may the Holy Spirit help us as we pray,
that we may not seek to bargain with you in order to obtain your loving grace, but may trust in you, and seek to follow you in sincerity of heart; this we ask in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen.
