Intercessions September 1, 2019

INTERCESSIONS. 22nd. SUNDAY in ORDINARY TIME [C], September 1st., 2019.

Priest: Let us pray, for the Church and the world through Jesus Christ, who stripped himself of glory to accept his Cross.

Reader: For the Church, that Christians, who are called by the letter to the Hebrews “citizens of heaven”, may represent that state in their behaviour in the world [pause]:
Lord, hear us: Lord, graciously hear us.

For our political leaders, that they may not be absorbed in a power struggle at a time of great national need, let us pray to the Lord [pause]:
Lord, hear us: Lord, graciously hear us.

For all who work in the field of hospitality, that they may not be exploited, and may be treated with dignity, let us pray to the Lord [pause]:
Lord, hear us: Lord, graciously hear us.

For peace in the world, especially at present in Hong Kong, that justice may prevail by means of dialogue rather than by force, let us pray to the Lord [pause]:
Lord, hear us: Lord, graciously hear us.

May Mary pray for us, and instil in us a sense of respect and responsibility towards God the Father’s Creation:

SALVE REGINA
Hail, holy Queen, mother of mercy
Hail our life, our sweetness, and our hope.
To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve; to thee do we send up our sighs,
mourning and weeping in this vale of tears.
Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy towards us,
and after this our exile show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.
Priest: Pray for us, O holy Mother of God
That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Let us now pray in silence for our own intentions [silence]:

Priest: Heavenly Father, may your Holy Spirit lead us in prayer and restrain us from presuming on your goodness, while making us always aware of our dependence on your loving-kindness; this we ask in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
