Nothing tests faith more than a miracle – a film

A film in French by Jessica Hausner – with subtitles – suitable for all; 95 minutes.

Tea/coffee from 7pm, proceeds from refreshments to the repository (for rosaries); volunteers for beverages and to set up the hall appreciated.

Father David adds: “For the first two minutes this looks as if it will be a documentary. It isn’t. It is a fictional story set in Lourdes, and made with Lourdes’ approval, centred on a group of pilgrims.

The classic Lourdes events – baths, grotto, torchlight
procession, etc. – are woven into the story. It sets out to raise questions:

Do you have to deserve a miracle?
If one happens to you, do you then have to be ‘different’?
What happens to a group dynamic when one person receives spiritual favours and others seem not to?

Intriguing, and not without humour.
